Fake-Out Thrummed Mittens
Real thrummed mittens are mittens that have a little piece of roving draped over every 3 or 4 stitches. Each piece is cut separately. The mitten feels fantastic--but to be honest, it's a pain to make. Enter the Fake-Out Thrummed Mittens. Made with one strand of thinner yarn and one strand of thicker yarn, they're as easy as Fair Isle. One skein of worsted-weight yarn
and one skein of Rasta or another equally thick yarn. Needles of your choice for knitting in the round. Choose one size that’s the same as the ball-band recommendation for the thinner yarn, and another two sizes smaller for the cuff. Date: Sunday, January 19, from 1-4 p.m. Cost: $35.
